About Dion Freeman

Lieutenant Dion Freeman, a Fort Myers native, was hired by the Fort Myers Police Department in 2002 and enrolled in the Southwest Florida Public Safety Academy. He graduated as president of the 100th Law Enforcement class from the Southwest Florida Public Safety Academy. In the nineteen years of service to the citizens of Fort Myers, Lieutenant Freeman has served in many positions. Over the years, Lieutenant Freeman has been assigned to the Patrol Division, Bicycle Unit, and Juvenile Assessment & Monitoring Unit. Lieutenant Freeman also serviced as a Detective, investigating Burglaries, Auto Theft, and Robbery cases. Lieutenant Freeman was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. As a Sergeant, he served in the Patrol Division and the Professional Standards Bureau. In 2020, Lieutenant Freeman was promoted to Lieutenant's rank and assigned to the Patrol Division. Lieutenant Freeman is a board member for the Lee County Homeless Coalition and a Certified Diversity Professional through the Diversity First organization. Throughout his career, he has garnered numerous other certifications. He is a graduate of the 30th Florida Leadership Academy hosted by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement and a proud Barry University Alumnus
