About Dipanka Boruah
He is currently heading the Bamboo Design Studio at NID Assam. He is an Industrial Designer and researcher. His education qualification comprises graduation with a Bachelor of Architecture from Nagpur University and postgraduation with a Master of Design from IIT Guwahati, India. His research interests focus on indigenous innovation, healthcare transportation design practice, and new product development. His area of research is socially responsible design and providing support to bring innovative design ideas to the market. He follows a human-centred design approach by performing qualitative and quantitative user studies, building and testing prototypes informed by users, and iteratively improving designs based on user feedback. His Ph.D. research is entitled 'Design and Development of an Amphibian Ambulance for Riverine Areas'. The aim and objective of the research are, a human-centred design methodology adopted for undertaking the design, results, and analysis of the experiments carried out from the point of view of the perception of the innovated and developed amphibian ambulance as a sustainable healthcare mode. During the Ph.D, He was awarded a 10-month Doctoral Research fellowship under the Erasmus Mundus Interweave program at the Cardiff School of Art and Design (CSAD), Cardiff Metropolitan University, UK and he explored and compared how indigenous innovations are supported in a developing country such as India with how the support is offered in Wales, UK. His present research works to aid the development and adaptation of new processes, materials, tools, and techniques for use in Industrial product development.
