About Divvya Nirula

As a child I fell in love with the canvases of Amrita Sher-Gil, Jamini Roy and Raja Ravi Varma - as my Mother would take me to view the permanent collection at the National Museum of Modern Art in New Delhi, India. From then on it has been a continuos curiosity to delve deeper into the minds and works of Artists from around the world. First as admirer and fan, and now as Collaborator, Curator and Gallerist. Fuelled by a passion to showcase art and artists to new audiences - young and old, my journey is a complex one as I don many hats - that of Danseuse, Writer, Poet, Photographer, Artist, Thinker, Art Historian, Critic and Philosopher to name a few. Contributing in the past decade to exhibitions in India and Abroad my skill-sets have evolved from being a student and researcher of art history to an organiser, patron and representative for artists and artworks that fall outside the conventional art-circles. As Director and Head Curator of Art From Us, I am aim to provide a space and a voice for artists that are yet undiscovered. Presenting to the world works that are fine-art collectibles. Our ethos is rooted in a tradition and family heritage of art-collecting, which has shaped our Mission of conducting 100 artist-studio visits a year. It is in this role as bridge and facilitator that my work and research find true expression. By presenting art to an audience, helping it discover what lies before it and beyond, not re-defining it, but allowing the audience to absorb and experience, I feel that the Artist, the Viewer and me the Curator collectively become the story, the narrative that links us to …whatever is next?
