BMedSci (Hons), MB ChB (Edin), MSc (Dist), MRCP(UK), MRCP Edin FRCR Candidate Successfully completed FRCR Part 1 (CO1) Canadian-Torontonian. Proud identical twin @Deepika Manoharan. British educated and trained doctor. I am a Specialty Doctor in Clinical Oncology at the renowned Northern Centre for Cancer Care at the Freeman Hospital - Newcastle Hospitals, with particular interests in neuro-oncology, oligometastasis, thoracic oncology, lymphoma, and SBRT/SABR. Following training in Internal Medicine (MRCP UK), I am a pursuing Clinical Oncology (ranked 2nd in national selection). Prior to higher specialty training in Clinical Oncology, I was a NIHR Academic Clinical Fellow in Cardiology. I intentionally chose to change careers (from Cardiology to Oncology) and dedicate my lifetime to serving cancer patients and their families; it was a very personal, pivotal, and life-changing decision. With an estimated 1 in 2 people expected to be affected by cancer, my dream in life is not wealth or power, but to be remembered for kindness and to be a blessing in someone’s darkest hour; the true success I aim for daily. The UK program in 'Clinical Oncology' with the Royal College of Radiologists is one of the most unique and sophisticated programs globally, allowing me to practice both in Radiation Oncology (FRCR Candidate) and Medical Oncology, enabling the delivery of radiotherapy with cutting-edge advanced technology and techniques in the form of external beam therapy, brachytherapy, and stereotactic radiosurgery, as well as deliver a full range of systemic anti-cancer therapies in the form of chemotherapy, immunotherapy, biological agents, and hormone therapy. I pursued Medicine (6-year BMedSci/MD programme) in United Kingdom's top medical schools directly after completing my high school education in Toronto (95% average/GPA 4.0). I did my pre-clinical training (acceptance rate of 3%) at University of St Andrews (BMedSci Hons First Class) and intercalated in Molecular Oncology (GPA 3.9/4.0). I continued my clinical training (acceptance rate of 2%) at the University of Edinburgh (MB ChB Edin), with final year electives at University of Toronto (GPA 3.0/4.0). I further earned a Masters with Distinction (MSc) in Internal Medicine (GPA 4.0/4.0) with the Royal College of Physicians Edinburgh and received the prestigious RCPE Scholarship.
