About Divya Prabhu

I am a bioengineer and translational researcher passionate about bridging discovery with impact, where imaging, cell biology, and engineered solutions converge to drive better diagnostics and therapies. My path into research wasn’t just academic, it was deeply personal. Watching loved ones face chronic diseases grounded my work in a sense of purpose that continues to guide me in every experiment, model, and dataset I work with. At UC San Diego’s Kravets Lab, my thesis research focuses on calcium signaling and beta-cell network dynamics in Type 2 Diabetes. Using confocal microscopy, FLIM, and live-cell calcium imaging, I investigate how intra-islet communication affects insulin secretion and metabolic coordination, work aimed at uncovering early biomarkers and therapeutic targets. Before this, I contributed to pancreatic cancer research in the Cheresh Lab, studying tumor–stromal interactions and cancer-associated fibroblasts. That experience gave me hands-on exposure to in vivo models, targeted therapies, and the complex signaling that shapes the tumor microenvironment. What sets me apart is my dual fluency in experimental science and product-driven strategy. At Krishagni Solutions, I led clinical research software implementations across the U.S, Europe, and Asia, supporting institutions like biobanks, cancer centers, and hospitals in automating biospecimen workflows and aligning with regulatory standards. I have translated scientific needs into scalable systems, working directly with cross-functional teams to enable research at scale.
