About Dixie King

In everything I do, I am happiest when I am encouraging and motivating those around me. My desire is to foster a positive and supportive environment for my friends and co-workers. My first long-term job was homeschooling my four children where I found much joy encouraging and motivating them in their studies. In this role, I developed and honed many skills such as quick problem-solving, organization, scheduling, conflict resolution, and time management skills. After my first two children graduated from high school, I transitioned to a career in education outside the home and spent several years as a middle school and high school English teacher. As a teacher, I developed comprehensive lesson plans, tailored my teaching methods to meet diverse student needs, and created an engaging learning environment. My students seemed to enjoy the positive environment I created. It was hard for me to step away from teaching, but I chose to do so. For the past 2 1/2 years, I have been working as a food drive coordinator and an orchard volunteer coordinator at the Real Life Center, a faith-based non-profit food pantry. As the food drive coordinator, I collaborate with local businesses, schools, and community groups to coordinate donation drives, and I plan the logistics for collecting the food items. My role involves not only logistical planning but also significant outreach and relationship-building to secure ongoing support and donations. I also develop and implement marketing strategies to raise awareness about the food pantry's mission and needs. As the orchard volunteer coordinator, I have used my motivational and encouragement skills to inspire volunteers to care for the fruit in our 3-acre orchard. My responsibilities in this role are to find new volunteers, schedule workdays, keep track of volunteer hours, listen to questions and concerns and provide solutions, and promote volunteer retention through a positive work environment. In addition to my work at the Real Life Center, I have recently joined the Auctum Wealth Management (my husband's financial planning company) team. I am coordinating the marketing efforts part-time. I have a lot to learn, but I am up for the challenge. Stay-tuned.
