About Dolf Smits

I am a passionate, experienced senior software developer/team lead in mainly (but not only) Microsoft software development environment. The last couple of years I have been working as agile technical team lead and senior software engineer in an agile/scrum Microsoft.Net/C#/Asp.Net environment. As part of software development I translate functional specifications into technical specifications, which I describe in one or more lightweight design documents. In a design document I describe the intended design and the end-to-end userstories, after which I do effort estimations together with the development team, leading to an iterative plan and (after some iterations) to a predictable delivery. I use test driven development to deliver high quality, testable and unittested software. I use test coverage tooling to identify code paths not touched by unittests, so that I make a clear decision to (not) add additional tests in relation to the effort and risks. I value working software over comprehensive documentation, individuals and interactions over processes and tools, customer collaboration over contract negotiation and responding to change over following a plan.
