About Dominik Padovan

I began to cultivate my engineering passion in my early ages spending most of my time in my father’s workshop, which came to me naturally. Since then the desire to solve mechanical design related problems never ceased to glow. In high school during summer holidays I have spent most of my time working on assembly lines, processing machines, measuring machines,… in the nearby factory (before Iskra Avtoelektrika d.d, today MAHLE Electric Drives Slovenija d.o.o.) which was producing mainly starter motors, alternators and traction drive motors for commercial vehicles. During studies I always tried to connect the theory learned with practice via working on projects. I've concluded my mechanical engineering studies with a MSc degree thesis that solved a persistent gear design problem the company had with one of the customers and with it saved the business. I've worked as a design engineer at Starter Motors R&D department for 4 years. On this position I proposed many design solutions that our company almost immediately sold or with them impressed our customers to stay with us and not to change us with a potential competitor. MEDS published three patent applications with me as an innovator. As a reward for my successful support on several projects I got an offer to be the first Slovenian member of the new established department for development of the latest generation traction drive motors, where I worked for a year on mechanical design engineer and R&D specialist positions. Development of traction drive motors has become my new passion. In 2021 Rimac Automobili d.o.o. offered me the opportunity to switch from high volume to high performance.
