About Don Appert
30 years of experience as a music educator, trombonist, composer-arranger, and conductor (orchestral and choral).Ten years of experience with international orchestras (professional and student). I am the 2019-20 and 2011 winner of The American Prize in Orchestral Programming—Vytautas Marijosius Memorial Award and a eight time winner of the ASCAPLUS Award in recognition of performances in the US, Europe, and Central America. I received the Exceptional Faculty Award at Clark College in 2020. In 2015 I was one of four Honored Artists by the American Prize. In 2014 the Clark County Arts Commission awarded me Lifetime Achievement in the Arts. My goal is to continue to make music with orchestras and choirs both amateur and professional as well as share my own musical compositions. Currently I have commissions from Brett Deubner, viola virtuoso, for a concerto and Douglas Webster, star of Les Mis on Broadway, for a song cycle. They will be premiered in 2016.
