About Don Blake

Joined the Boeing Company in 1980 in the Industrial Engineering department as a Methods Engineer and later as a Program Engineer and Systems Analyst. In 1986, was selected to participate in the first Management Control Systems Auditor (MCSA) loaned auditor team. After completing the year long development assignmentreturned to Industrial Engineering (IE) and was assigned to the IE CQI Facilitator Team. In 1988, received first management assignment in Operations Business Systems as supervisor of the Manufacturing Planning Systems support group. Implemented several key projects in his tenure IDB/OLP Retrofit, SHARE II, Pre-IBOM, and DARTS/CDS. In 1994, Mr. Blake was assigned Wichita Division Cycle Time Reduction Manager. This was later combined with his JIT/Lean Implementation manager assignment. Led Wichita Division BPS/Lean Enterprise implementation from June 1995 until June 2005. In previous position with Boeing he was the Director of Boeing Production System (BPS) implementation and support. In April 2002, given the responsibility for the Fabrication and Assembly inspection arm of the Quality and Process Improvement (Q & PI) organization. In June 2005, at the creation of Spirit AeroSystems was named Director of Industrial Cooperation and Collaboration until appointment as Strategic Initiatives Director in May 2006. In 2006, appointed project manager for Project Marco Polo which in 2008 resulted in a successful negotiation with the state of North Carolina for development of new production facilities near Kinston, NC at the NC Global TransPark.
