About Don Bouchard

I have been involved in the real estate industry since 1981 and have substantial experience in the evaluation of investment property in conjunction with acquisitions, sales and financing matters. I have prepared appraisals for lease renegotiations, purchase options, estate and federal tax matters, property tax disputes, bankruptcies, eminent domain actions, site contamination cases and reuse purposes. I have also acted as an arbitrator in various matters involving commercial leasing and property disputes. One focus of my practice is litigation support involving complex valuation issues and I have appeared dozens of times as an expert witness in both federal and state courts. I have been involved in diverse matters such as office, industrial, retail and special purpose real estate, medical buildings, commercial parking garages, waterfront land, billboards, fair market rental rates and partial interests as well as various damage claims from contamination events and breaches of contract. Some specific examples include the valuation of Boston's John Hancock Tower in a tax matter to consideration of the economic impact of a commercial wind farm on a timeshare resort development. I also have broad experience in highest and best use studies, project feasibility, and re-use strategies. In many assignments, I have acted as part of multi-disciplinary teams with expertise across a broad spectrum of real estate matters. I am a member of the Counselors of Real Estate (CRE) and I hold the MAI designation of the Appraisal Institute and have served the greater Boston and Massachusetts Chapter as a Director and Officer for ten years and as Chapter President (2004).
