About Don Kells

With over 20 years of experience in telecommunications, I am a passionate and versatile Tools and Infrastructure Manager at Ciena, a leading network solutions provider. I have a strong background in voice over IP (VoIP), wireless technologies, and project management, and I am always eager to learn new tools and software that can help support engineers deliver exceptional service to Ciena's customers. I value collaboration, innovation, and customer satisfaction, and I strive to align my work with Ciena's mission and culture of agility, diversity, and excellence. In my current role, I am responsible for completing M&A activities, managing partner and supplier relations, liaising with IT, creating and implementing global lab policy and budget, and hiring and mentoring lab staff. I have successfully handled multiple tool issues and outages, negotiated contracts and pricing with suppliers, worked with R&D to ensure optimal lab conditions, and contributed to the smooth transition of Nortel's optical division to Ciena. I have also demonstrated my skills in telecommunications, VoIP, and wireless technologies by preparing and managing new tools used by partners, assisting them with troubleshooting, and keeping up to date with the latest developments in the industry.
