Don’s personality reflects the true visionary spirit of an entrepreneur. It’s one of ingenuity, passion and integrity. He brings over 37 years’ experience in business disciplines including product development, manufacturing, finance, operations, marketing, engineering, material sourcing, and procurement. He founded the Global Green Lighting LLC.(est. 2009) formerly known as G-MAG (Global Manufacturing Alliance Group) est. Don was one of the first small businesses to announce and follow through with closing his subcontract manufacturing company in Mainland China and relocating it to his hometown of Chattanooga TN. Don Lepard is a pioneer and leader to what is now a multi billion dollar industry known as the IoT ( Internet of Things) Don’s passion for problem solving, and extensive background in electronic components were the catalyst for the development of the Gig-Light. The Gig-Light is one of the most disruptive technologies ever to be introduced to the municipal and utilities. Initially, Don combined his own LED street light design with a wireless AMI ( Automatic Metering Infrastructure) to manage and measure energy consumption from the LED street lights and report the savings each month directly to the local utility. Don's Gig-Light evolved into being much more than just a smart street light, he saw the typical street light as the perfect location to host the next generation of wireless broad band networking hosting platforms. Today the Gig-Light with a POE (Power Over Ethernet) located inside the housing to provide power and high speed data to most Telecom and IoT devices at a very economical deployment cost in urban and rural areas. The Gig-Light has the potential to become the backbone to the next generation of outdoor wireless high speed broadband services and a new revenue stream for its owners.
