Career employment as a manager and chief financial officer has been supplemented by outside interests of participation in numerous sports, volunteerism in the community and leading tour groups internationally. Don has diversified business experience in controllership and audit with various not-for profit, public sector and private organizations. Immediately prior to his Managing Director position at Financial Management Institute of Canada he spent nine years as Controller, Project Manager and Interim Executive Director at Farm Management Canada, a not-for-profit company, and fifteen years at two federal Crown corporations. Don’s four most satisfying business achievements have been: 1. Managing various staffs in the collective accomplishment of business objectives and moving organizations significantly forward towards greater successes; 2. Creating and implementing a successful distant-learning-webinar-program that has attracted over one-hundred thousand registrants; 3. Preparing comprehensive financial analyses as the basis of negotiating a major contract for long-term event hosting, that resulted in a significant financial gain to his employer; 4. Championing the creation and leading the implementation of a flexible-benefits-plan across a national organization that has positively affected thousands of employees. Don offers the expertise, professionalism and trust required by boards of directors and senior management to effectively manage their overall business, business units or financial affairs.
