About Don Smith

The best career advice I ever got was from my father; “Do something where you'll make a difference.” The wisdom of my father was driven home for me when, as a young man, I worked in a job where I did not make a difference. It was tough going to work each day. Though I didn't make a difference in that job, I did get an education and that was something else I learned; no matter how things turn out, there are valuable lessons to be learned. Whether you learn something or you don't, the price is the same, so you might as well get something positive from the experience. My father’s advice and the lessons I have learned over the years have helped me become adept at thinking outside the box, strategizing, and seeing opportunities that others may overlook. These skills have enabled me to make positive contributions to the two organizations I worked for over the past 22 years. In the roles of business development, account management and operations, I helped them enter new markets, develop and roll-out new products, as well as adjust to shifts in their traditional markets. I am able to contribute to organizational success and help make a positive difference because I have skills in account management, program management, strategic planning, leadership, management, customer satisfaction, organizational effectiveness, and I know how to apply them effectively.
