About Donna Crane

Am exposed to a variety of clinical and academic settings, my broad nursing experience has enhanced my ability to examine, comprehend, and solve for the real-world complexities within healthcare and educational environments. I am a visionary and adept nurse leader with experience in building and managing teams in large organizations across disciplines. I am skilled in change management and thrive in a high-expectation environment. I possess wide-ranging knowledge of operational efficiencies and nursing educational program development. My regulatory and clinical expertise comes from years of nursing practice, including serving as a member of the state board of nursing and leading accreditation efforts. I have created and launched successful nursing programs and made substantive improvements in quality metrics in my leadership roles. Additionally, my research on using health information technology to prevent disability and empower seniors who self-manage chronic illness is published and sets a foundation for continued research in that area. My current research focus is on using data to drive quality in nursing education. I continue to be very active in the advanced practice nursing world as a distinguished Fellow of the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners. I am passionate about designing and delivering high quality, safe nursing care and that is reflected in my leadership, academic, research, and clinical practice. Combined, my experiences help me to understand real-world healthcare and academic environments, trends, workforce needs, and I have successfully applied that to help build a prominent college of nursing. My goal is to continue to grow my academic leadership career.
