I am a self-motivated individual who provides and promotes a team environment and able to train and share best practices with my colleagues, utilising a sound knowledge of process management. I have a conscientious approach, always recognising the importance of providing a professional service to key stake holders. I am current working as a Finance Assistant in a school. Prior to this role I took a career break having taken redundancy during maternity leave and whilst being on my career break, I have undertaken the AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting, in which I have self-studied, and I achieved a distinction. Upon completion of the foundation level, I decided to extend my career break and I completed the AAT Advanced Diploma in Accounting, where again, I self-studied and achieved a further distinction. Whilst working I have continued to self-study and I am now working towards the AAT Professional Diploma in Accounting. I successfully passed the Financial Statements of Limited Companies, Management Accounting Budgeting, Management Accounting Decisions and Controls and Credit Management assessments. I have 2 more exams to pass, after which I will be fully AAT qualified. The Finance Assistant role involves a wide variety of work which has enabled to me gain experience quickly to complement the AAT exams I have taken. I have learnt the practical side of purchase orders, invoicing, payments and budgeting. As I am nearing the end of my AAT studies I am looking to explore how I can progress onto the CIMA/ACCA qualification, where I would ideally be completing my studies alongside learning the practical aspects in my day-to-day role. Prior to my career break, I was successfully employed for 18 years, 13 of those working for Barclays Bank Plc. During this time, I have demonstrated the ability to identify key risk drivers, highlighting gaps in procedures and implementing control’s to eliminate the associated risk.
