About Donna Marshall

I have vast knowledge and experience in public health nursing and clinical nursing education. During my nursing experience, the main focus of my work has been on public health programs, carried out in clinics, homes and schools, with health assessment, health promotion, and illness and disease prevention as primary goals. I have worked mainly with young children, and families. Further, I worked with the Government of NL in a 1 year contact (2008-09), as Program Consultant, Parent and Child Health. I have palliative care training in pain and symptom management with the Grey Nuns, Edmonton Al. I also developed a palliative care nursing program for community health nursing while working in Western Health, NL. My nursing education experience has been in long term care, community health, therapeutic communication, and health promotion. I have served as a member of many working and advisory committees throughout my career. I have conducted oral presentations to many groups, including 2 national nursing conferences. For my master of nursing degree, I completed my practicum project on "Examination of New Parents' Evaluation of Postnatal Educational Materials", where I conducted a pilot study with first time parents in eastern NL. During my master of nursing program, I received the Ruby Dewling award for Excellence in Nursing, based on academic achievement and my community health nursing work.
