Background

About Donna Odonnell

I have been working in the tertiary sector for over 25 years in the United Kingdom and New Zealand. I have taught across a variety of programs from foundation level courses that support and develop literacy, computer (IT), and numeracy skills, to undergraduate tourism programs and supervision of master’s students. I have a passion for teaching and learning, winning teaching awards. My doctoral thesis examined if participation in international study tours, whilst at secondary school had any longer-term benefits for students. My Master's thesis examined e-learning and its effect on the travel agency sector and my Bachelor’s Degree in Education examined the coping strategies utilized by dyslexic students and the role of education in supporting learning. I am inspired to make tourism education inclusive and accessible for people with disabilities. Although I hold a PhD, I am very down to earth and have extensive knowledge of the tourism sector.
