About Donovan Johnson

As I conclude a successful collegiate career, I am optimistic about my pursuit into the world of biology. I have been persistent with my passion from a young age. I am building my career on the principles of conservation, preservation, and recovery of natural ecosystems. In my pursuit of gaining experience within my field, I landed an internship turned job my junior year at the AZA-accredited Moody Gardens Aquarium. As an entry-level Biologist, I have accumulated a year's worth of experience while completing my degree. I have worked with several animals, ranging from simple Jellyfish to more complex elasmobranchs. I have worked with cold-water fish, tropical fish, and several invertebrates as well. I have also conducted personal research on the cohabitation of betta splendid species in a large aquarium setting. I was able to study unusual habits of male-female, male-male, and female-female interaction. I am currently seeking laboratory experience to further develop my skills as a scientist to improve my competitive edge as I hope to enter Doctoral programs in the future.
