About Donovan Solms
I solve problems and break through perceived limitations using software. There is nothing quite as exciting as making machines work flawlessly in unison. Developing software is my passion - I’m always looking for new ways to challenge myself. I started programming at a very young age, building my first QBasic Knock-Knock application at age 11 and my first webpage at age 13. Since then programming has been my *passion*, my job and my hobby. Currently I can be found leading development for the medical-grade online dermatology platform Dr Derma. In open-source, I've contributed to the field of multitouch, where my work was featured in a book I co-authored with other experts in the field named 'Multitouch Technologies Handbook'. It was also used in a PhD thesis and other research papers. In mobile, I built the first African mobile site that won an award at the Mobile Marketing Association's Global Awards, specifically in the mobile display category.
