About Dorcas Smith

I am an award winning big four consultant with eclectic experience in business development, training, tax consulting, human resource management, administration and operations, accounting and auditing etc keen to develop and grow the society we live in, through the private or public sector and help build a better Nigeria. Over the last 12 years, I have worn the several hats outlined above in the course of my career journey. 10 of those have been spent with PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC), actively contributing to the growth of the business. I rose through the ranks, reporting to a diverse range of management staff and country/regional leadership. I currently lead the Abuja Tax Desk which also covers the northern zone. I have had the opportunity to work with a good mix of local and international clients (and staff) in the private and public sector across various industries such as government entities, tax authorities, NGOs, FMCGs, media and entertainment, construction, mining, power, energy etc while leveraging on the PwC network and technology-enhanced solutions. In 2019, I received the PwC 2019 CEO Performance Award for outstanding performance, service and dedication. In 2018 and 2017, I also received awards recognising my contributions in building relationships with key stakeholders, breaking through complexities in proffering solutions to both our people and clients, and for inspiring others. My work ethics and personal values are anchored on care, integrity, teamwork, diversity and inclusion, investing in relationships, making a difference and reimagining the possible. As a way of giving back, I participated in the PwC 5for5 charity walk, supported in the execution of the maiden National U-17 Cricket Championship powered by PwC and in partnership with the Nigerian Cricket Federation (NCF) and volunteered in an NGO through the AIESEC platform. I also represented the firm as a speaker at the ACCA Become A Future Ready Talent Summit, the Tax Takeover 2.0 organised by the University of Abuja and the Women in Business (SMEs) session organized by Access Bank Women Banking team.
