About Doreen Anene

I am an Animal Scientist by academic training, with 9 years of experience, working at the intersection of livestock research and production, agricultural policy and international development and the safety of livestock product. I am an expert Livestock Research and Policy consultant, with experience working with international development organisations on livestock development and food security issues. Equally importantly, I am a dedicated representative for women in science, and through The STEM Belle, I have with 4 years experience in stimulating the interest of schoolgirls from low income and underserved communities. towards science subjects and disciplines with the objective to close the gender gap in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields. My outstanding outreach activities to re-calibrate the female representation in STEM fields has been recognized by Nature Research and Estée Lauder Companies, University of Nottingham and Channels Television – Nigeria. My mantra is that women and girls can be everything: elegant in stilettos and confident in steel toes.#stilettosandsteeltoes ↔🥾 I am a Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) alumni, a UN Women Global Champion for Change, and a woman of great faith in God. I am constantly inspired by Michelle Obama’s words to young people, to ‘get a good education, and then use the education to create a country worthy of their boundless promise’.
