About Doreen Yeo

I was first trained as an accountant with a total of five years of auditing and financial analysis experience with Deloitte and Touche and Hewlett Packard. I made a career switch to healthcare stemming from a desire to contribute differently. I was attracted by the philosophy of the occupational therapy profession of restoring function and independence in persons with illnesses and disabilities so that they can participate meaningfully in their life roles. I underwent professional training and successfully became an occupational therapist with keen interest in working with adults with disabilities. Other special areas of interest include driving assessment and rehabilitation, return-to-work and community reintegration. After eight years as a clinician, I saw gaps in the healthcare system and hoped to go beyond my clinical role to being able to influence systems level changes. That started my journey as a healthcare administrator. In my current role as the director of allied health in Tan Tock Seng Hospital, I have opportunities in the following areas- Provide strategic clinical oversight and direction to the development of allied health professionals and services that are aligned with the vision of the hospital, government, evolving demographics and clinical trends- Drive collaborations and care integration across multiple sites and stakeholders including healthcare, social and academic partners, governmental ministries, VWOs- Lead work process redesign, innovation and workforce transformation in tandem with the development of value driven outcomes and financing models. Currently, I am in the right space and time to continue to contribute meaningfully to the healthcare system in Singapore.
