About Dorien Steed

Hello, my name is Dorien Steed. I am a recent graduate from Coastal Carolina University's Engineering Science program. While earning my degree, I developed an in-depth knowledge of many major principles of engineering as well as the physics that supplement them. The bulk of my school learning is in design/problem-solving, thermo and fluid dynamics, graphic communication and data analysis, and experimental methods. I also took an interest in more complex physics concepts such as quantum mechanics. In my extracurricular time, I took up a leadership role as the conducting drum major for the Chanticleer Regiment and carried out that duty for three years. For two of my summers at Coastal, I was given an internship opportunity at Nucor Steel where I developed a wealth of knowledge on industrial mechanics and maintenance. I was thoroughly educated on pumps, compressors, hydraulics, and metalworking.I am currently working at HTC where I draft digitized maps into a profound GIS software. My long-term goals are to continue my education by pursuing a doctorate in mechanical engineering and performing laboratory work and experiments to continue innovative research on renewable energy.
