About Doris Casap

Experienced film and television programmer, media executive and producer with a proven track record of leading successful teams and complicated negotiations with transformative impact. Acquired, sold and produced powerful programming for top media companies. In 2019, I founded an independent production company. Mother Films develops, produces and distributes original series and films featuring multicultural innovators, telling stories with passion and joy. We premiered our first full production, a crowd-pleasing hip hop comedy at Sundance 2022 and went on to win various awards at over 50 festivals. At NYU Tisch, I teach film marketing, distribution and production. My executive roles at HBO in film programming, strategy and acquisitions helped transform the networks into a multichannel streaming on demand service. I led a team of acquisitions executives and staffers responsible for filmed content that accounted for up to 80% of viewing hours on HBO and Cinemax. I negotiated complex, multi-year, studio output and library deals with studios including Universal, Warner Bros, Fox, Lionsgate and Summit, closing deals of over $1B. I was responsible for content strategy for HBO Latino, introducing music and comedy as well as managing film acquistiions. I held key roles in the launches of European, Latin American and Asian networks. I have held ten board seats for private companies and nonprofits (including El Museo del Barrio and The New York Urban League) and am an active investor in visionary female founders. My education includes a BA in Economics from Vassar College and an MBA from Harvard Business School. I was born in beautiful Bolivia and am fluent in Spanish.
