About Dorrit Marks

Self-motivated, highly organized, a leader in the community, Dorrit Marks is known for her curiosity, interacting and language skills.This professional is a strategic thinker, persistent and likes to solve problems. She has a unique cross-cultural background and a passion for learning. Dorrit worked as a College Success Counselor at St Thomas University in Miami mentoring students. She developed internship opportunities and guided student career planning, increasing academic success and retention. She enjoys working to help individuals determine their goals and their approach to success. Dorrit spent many years as an international development professional in Latin America, Africa, Central Europe and former Soviet Union where she encouraged public participation in government policy decision-making and led democracy and leadership-building programs. Projects completed involved non-governmental organization leaders and parliamentarians in Benin, Niger, Uganda, Panama, El Salvador, Peru, Nicaragua, and Ecuador. Some projects focused on investment promotion and economic reform in Central America, Panama, and Peru. She also worked in Albania, Bosnia & Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan, and Ukraine. Dorrit values community engagement and is a leader of the League of Women Voters, currently Vice President for Leadership Development. She has served in many capacities, including president of the organization and shares her knowledge and energy to build community participation, team work and leadership skills. Dorrit was born in Vienna and is interested in languages and culture. She speaks English, German, Spanish, French and Italian and received a Licence degree from the Graduate Institute of International Studies in Geneva, Switzerland and a bachelor's in political science from the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan. Besides Geneva, Switzerland, she lived in Hamburg, Germany and travels for studies in history and economics to universities in Italy.
