Background
About Doug Combs
In my current role, I work with school administrators to best meet the needs of their faculty, staff and students with regard to technology in their classrooms and schools. Relationship building is key to success in working with schools. During my time with Total Wine & More, I served as a Wine Associate. As a full time employee during the pandemic, my knowledge of wine and spirits grew. I am still involved with Total Wine as a part time team member and lead the monthly wine classes in our store. For 15 years, I was involved in school fundraising. While primarily a sales position, I worked with school administrators, coaches and PTO/PTA groups to help them meet their fundraising needs. As an Executive with the Boy Scouts I was responsible for recruiting members, volunteers and raising money through a family and community fundraising program, and through grant writing. I also served as Camp Director. During my time with the Boy Scouts, I led our Challenge Course and Climbing programs. As Metro Area Manager for Cottage Care, I led a team of 20 who cleaned houses in St Louis from two offices I managed. I had responsibility for all aspects of hiring, training, motivation and firing of employees. I was also responsible for the bi-weekly payroll. At Colonial Presbyterian Church I had responsibility for all activities and events for a 2500 member congregation. I was over the maintenance, custodial, grounds, food service, wedding and events staff. It was a highly detail oriented position that required the ability to work with multiple projects at the same time. After a three year break, I was brought back as Administrator, with all of my previous responsibilities, plus the additional projects of working with our other worship sites and programs. As Camp Director of the Elkhorn River YMCA Camp, I was a one man operation with responsibility for all aspects of the camp, including promotion, marketing, staffing, and running the summer camp program. While at the Elkhorn River Camp, I brought it up to ACA standards and was awarded accreditation for the first time in the camp's history. At Doane College, I was hired through a Kellogg Foundation grant to develop youth leadership programs. With my background in outdoor challenge courses, I was also tasked with developing a program that would serve as a model program and was utilized by a high percentage of the campus. We also expanded into the community and offered training for corporate and military groups.
