Public service has been central to my career and way of life. Solving problems to benefit people in need motivates me. My work has supported government agencies, elected officials and non-profit organizations. For nearly 30 years, I was fortunate to serve in positions of responsibility in the Governor's office, Legislature and Congress. As Maine's Chief Deputy Secretary of State, it was my honor to help guide a large and diverse state agency. Leaving government in 2017, my attention has turned to serving individuals seeking recovery from substance use disorders and mental health challenges, as well as people who are unhoused and seeking safe, affordable housing. These three concerns are reaching crisis status in parts of Maine.
