About Doug Garner

Doug has been in the investment management business since Before becoming Chairman and Senior Portfolio Manager at YouFirst Financial Inc, he was President and Portfolio Manager of YouFirst Financial, and Director and Portfolio Manager at Foster & Associates, a Toronto-based IIROC investment dealer. Prior to launching his career in finance, Doug gained extensive business experience through holding senior marketing and engineering management positions at Motorola, AT & T, and as VP Engineering at IPS Automation. Doug also has work experience in the aerospace, computer, process control, pulp and paper, steel, and telecommunications industries. Beyond the finance realm, Doug’s in-depth experience in the operations of these companies provides valuable insight into the actual business that lies behind the balance sheet and income statements of the companies that we invest in. In addition to being a Professional Engineer, Doug is a CFA Charterholder and has also completed the Partners, Directors, and Senior Officers Course (PDO), the Professional Financial Planning Course (PFPC), and is Canadian Investment Manager (CIM). Doug gained his Bachelor of Applied Science in electrical engineering 1978 and his Masters in Management Science in 1984, both from the University of Waterloo.
