About Doug Gordon

I started in the travel and tourism industry at grass roots so to speak – with the Mount Cook line in Sydney, Christchurch and Queenstown before setting off for the obligatory 2 year stint in London. When I came back to Auckland I completed my Bachelor of Business in Accounting. Yes, finance. I got into finance because I wanted to understand how businesses work. I cut my teeth at Deloitte and William Buck and gained my Chartered Accountancy qualification. It was both challenging and rewarding, but there was also something missing. I decided to get back into the travel industry, so I became the Finance Manager for FCm Travel Solutions in Flight Centre’s corporate division. After dipping my toes in I wanted to get more hands on, so I took on the role of Auckland Team Leader of Account Management. After a short time the National role became available and I was handed the reins nationwide, working closely with the Account Managers on direction and leadership of their portfolios. I then had the opportunity to utilise both my financial and account management experience looking after Corporate Product, delivering new products and revenue streams for our corporate business. I was then give an opportunity with Helloworld as the land contracting manager. This gave me the opportunity to further expand on the skills and experience that I have gained in my previous roles but get to work with our key suppliers in both the Retail and Corporate divisions. Due to the impact of Covid-19 my role at Helloworld was made redundant but this was a blessing in disguise. I now am working for a NZ start up travel company, Travel-Lab. Travel-Lab is helping to shape the travel industry within NZ. Utilising the best technology to provide the best product and service offering in market. It’s fun and exciting role as well as challenging. You get to try different things you wouldn't normally do and work with the best team in travel.
