About Doug Knight

With nearly 25 years of experience as a Physician Assistant and healthcare administrator, I have dedicated the last 16 years to specializing in orthopedics. My clinical practice spans both outpatient and inpatient settings, where I've consistently aimed to enhance patient outcomes and reduce complications through strategic initiatives. I've utilized my skills as a clinician and administrator to help develop and implement multiple care pathways including acute fracture protocols, total joint best practices, and fragility fracture prevention and management pathways. In my current position I have played a pivotal role in shaping the orthopedic program across six hospitals in Cincinnati. My efforts have focused on achieving Joint Commission Certification for total joint programs, implementing best practices for total joint care of patients, developing a back and spine program utilizing APPs partnered with spine specialists, and in the creation and implementation of a fragility fracture program aimed at improved awareness, prevention, and management of osteoporosis patients. I have been able to expand my reach through creating an educational program aimed at our beside orthopaedic nurses and helping them to gain certification in their specialty. I possess a deep understanding of current national benchmarks and programs, including CMS projects like BPCI/CJR and the newly implemented Patient Reported Outcomes initiative. In the ever-evolving healthcare landscape, I believe that staying informed on the latest standards is crucial for enhancing patient experiences. As healthcare begins to navigate the ever improving technology and software available I have been able to help in developing and utilizing remote monitoring software to transform patient education and engagement. I am also very excited about the potential of AI-assisted protocols to revolutionize patient interactions and community outreach—an initiative I see as vital to the future of healthcare. I have been part of a team that is bringing this new technology into our service line to allow patients to have a better experience in all facets of care. My passion lies in helping patients regain their functional abilities, whether through surgical procedures, physical therapy, or innovative biologic treatments. Witnessing their progress brings immense satisfaction and drives my commitment to this field. Leveraging my administrative knowledge helps me in bridging the gap between clinical professions and administrators in C-Suite positions.
