About Doug Krokosz

Doug Krokosz is a Professional Mechanical Engineer who is currently Director of Engineering of an international engineering service company [StatsGroup]. Before going to the University of Manitoba to complete a Mechanical Engineering Degree, he worked as an Engineering Technologist at VALE's Thompson metal refining and processing facility. Doug has coordinated complete small projects and worked as a project manager in very large ones. He is technically competent and experienced in the rules surrounding pressure vessels and piping and has good knowledge of the working trades. He has worked for SNC Lavalin Engineering in Calgary as part of the Suncor Millennium Bitumen Production design team. He followed that project through the initial de-bottle necking phase during which he ran small projects through commissioning, start-up and then maintenance of the new plants. After completing the bad actor phase of maintenance he joined the Suncor Major Projects construction team as a field engineer on Suncor’s new coker and fractionators expansion before finally moving to project management. Doug formed an integral part of the scope definition and execution team during Suncor’s 2005 major fire rebuild project and was key member of a team coordinating high pressure compressed schedule project re-building and commissioning refinery in 8.5 months. During that time he became responsible for pressure equipment intervention design and coordination, eventually moving on to work at international intervention specialist (Stats Group). Today Doug manages ProForma Engineering – an international mechanical equipment design service bureau. Doug is an excellent communicator and well versed in the workings of industrial plants, process and pressure design. Doug is a resource committee member of ASME PCC-2. Doug is a certified Canadian Weld Bureau Welding Engineer with over 20 years overseeing repairs on pressure and lifting equipment.
