About Doug MacKenzie
Having been a Charleston resident for 25 years I've worked in a variety of fields: retail sales and management, food and beverage, tourism, health and fitness, shipping, real estate, energy assessments, and construction. Construction, sustainability, and "green building" are my passion, and I am blessed to have a job I love as a construction supervisor for Sea Island Habitat for Humanity. Additionally, I am now managing the Lowcounty's only DeConstruction department whereby we extract resalable building materials (kitchen appliances, cabinets, countertops, bath vanities, toilets, etc.) free. These items are then sold at our ReStore to generate more funds to build more houses. Everyone needs to experience the fulfillment of giving one's time to volunteer. It may sound generic but I still live by these words: We have only one earth, be "green". walk the walk and pass it on.
