About Doug Mulford

I currently work as the Content Coordinator at Waking Up, as well as one of the moderators for the company’s community forum. I previously worked as the Aurora Trainer at the nonprofit Rocky Mountain MicroFinance Institute, and managed educational programming, among other duties. I have also worked as a Spanish instructor, ran my own small business, and worked as a Study Abroad Advisor at the College of Charleston. I hold a Master of International Studies from North Carolina State University, specializing in Latin America. I also have a Master of Arts in Romance Languages with a concentration in Spanish College Teaching, and a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish with a minor in Teaching English as a Foreign Language, both from Appalachian State University. In 2020 I completed a certificate course with North Carolina State University in paralegal studies. I am passionate about teaching, foreign affairs, legal studies, and international education. I have experience living abroad in Latin America and Europe, both in professional and academic settings. I studied in Argentina, Spain, and Guatemala, and worked in Madrid as an English Teaching Assistant. I also completed a short internship in Cuba, in which I focused on the processes involved in developing a study abroad program within a university system.
