About Doug Reardon

This global era is ripe with opportunity- for those who are prepared.By contributing to the comprehensive internationalization of universities and colleges, I help students acquire the skills, knowledge and experience that they will need to reap the benefits of the increasing connections among markets, cultures and societies around the globe. Directing the Flagship Overseas Programs for American Councils lets me help more men and women to master languages, to immerse themselves in another culture, and to gain valuable first-hand experience in regions that have important roles global affairs. At American Councils I direct talented teams of experienced managers, program officers, teachers and staff, who work in the United States and at sites throughout Asia and Africa. Our Flagship programs provide American students with unrivaled opportunities to immerse themselves in foreign cultures, intern with overseas companies, enroll in local universities and learn languages. Directing the Flagship programs, which spread across Eurasia and Africa, lets me leverage the wide-range of experience that I gained as a SIO (senior internationalization officer) at a university, where I cultivated overseas partnerships that exchanged students and enabled faculty to collaborate on research and teaching with foreign peers, hosted foreign delegations, ran multicultural programs and supported international students. My leadership of the Flagship also benefits from my experience as a tenured faculty, who chaired a large academic department, designed curriculum, including a B.A. in Global Studies, and led students in fieldwork on NASA-funded research projects in Africa and the Caribbean.
