About Doug Sughrue

At the end of law school, I was determined to be involved in the criminal justice system in some way. My opportunity came in when the Allegheny County Public Defenders Office offered me a job. I had been a certified law student with Allegheny County Public Defenders' Office being supervised by Assistant Public Defender Charles T. Clark, Esq. handling preliminary hearings and simple cases in the Court of Common Pleas of Allegheny County while in law school. After doing well as an attorney with the Public Defender's Office, I opened up my own criminal defense law firm in the fall of 2001. From there, I started handling federal criminal cases. Eventually, I became licensed in the State of West Virginia and began to handle state and federal cases within PA and WV. Soon, I realized there was a distinct need throughout this country for federal employees who have been injured on the job to have a law firm dedicated to helping them and their families through one of the most stressful time in their lives. Handling federal workers compensation claims for those federal employees that have become injured due to no fault of their own while working relentlessly as a civil servant is very rewarding. Winning their claims, expanding their accepted conditions or obtaining approval for a surgery that will help them heal makes it easy for me to get up in the morning and sleep well at night. For some other residents of PA who have not had the ability to drive legally for a long time, I am known as the lawyer who can restore driving privileges, reduce the amount of suspension they have to serve and/or obtain a restricted license so that can obtain a better job and care for their families.
