About Douglas Bell

I am currently attending Dalhousie and studying in the Commerce Co-op Program. I am an avid learner and very interested in finance and accounting. I love to volunteer most notably I organized and led a team of like-minded volunteers on a trip to the most impoverished region of Guatemala to install rainwater collection and filtration systems and small gardens in the homes of young indigenous mothers in remote communities. These communities have no access to potable drinking water and severe nutritional deficiencies. To fund this initiative we developed and executed a fundraising strategy targeting large mining corporations with significant business and ESG activities in Latin America, as well as friends and family. Our strategy involved delivering presentations to senior executives and was highly successful, enabling us to raise over which was sufficient to improve the lives of over 40 families. Last summer I worked at Lambton Golf and Country Club on the greens-keeping team. This job involved early mornings and heavy lifting. It was a great experience and I learned a lot about determination, responsibility, and teamwork. I am looking forward to continuing to study at Dalhousie as well as working at Lambton Golf and Country Club this summer.
