2003 is when I started my apprenticeship in cert 3 carpentry with H&M Tracy construction in residential up in Broome far north top of Western Australia (The Kimberly) Worked two years as a qualified carpenter with H&M until I made the move to Adelaide and have been here ever since. I got to say as a proud Kija/ Yawuru man, Since being in Adelaide it has been an eye-opener in terms of being in the big city, as an indigenous Boy coming from a small remote town of Broome and being a part of big projects in the city while working for companies like Lend Lease. It's been a scary but a deadly experience for me. In Adelaide, I've worked with a cladding company Asurco for about two years and moved on to lend lease where I've had the opportunity to work on projects like the redevelopment of the Adelaide Oval, also the redevelopment of Tonley's Tafe at the old Mitsubishi car factory. The redevelopment of the convention centre, Adelaide high school on Frome Road in the city. And the AMNS project on North Terrace for Adelaide University. And now working for Masters Builders as an apprentice field coordinator where I get to help the next generations of young tradesmen and tradeswomen, helping them get their qualifications. It’s a bumpy ride at the start of their journey and through it to where seeing them get their qualifications at the end, it’s a deadly feeling.
