About Douglas Kidd

Advocacy oriented individual whose work changes the lives of people and improves society. As CPST/TBS, I assist individuals to their highest level of functioning by striving for successful community living. As Founder/Owner of Undistracted Driving Advocacy: developed partnership with National Safety Council, Itasca, Illinois - attended Distracted Driving Survivor Advocate Media Workshop; composed, narrated, and produced a video for a Fortune 500 company; speak to groups about the dangers of driving and cellphone use. As member of the Accessibility Committee of the Toledo/Lucas County Commission on Disabilities, I originated and provide oversight for efforts that led an area shopping center improve its accessibility. As a former member of the Board of Trustees of the Ability Center of Greater Toledo, I play a vital role in transforming the community and reducing stigma. As leader of the Greater Toledo Brain Injury Support Group, I promote social inclusion of group members. As an advocate for my profoundly disabled brother, I work to ensure his skilled nursing facility recognizes and fosters his humanity. Last, I have contributed to Disability Culture by presenting papers at international/national conferences, published academic article, essays, and poetry.
