As a special-district commissioner, I work to ensure the efficient use of resources, reduce taxes, and incorporate modern technology to better serve the community. As the director of the non-profit the Good Samaritan Institute, we are leading efforts to monitor and improve water quality of Choctawhatchee Bay and protect native plant and animal species. We are working with government leaders and local NGOs to implement strategies to manage the impact of unprecedented development and tourism while protecting our environment.” About Doug Liles: Doug is the founder and Director of the Good Samaritan Institute, a non-profit that is committed to advancing Science through education. GSI is currently focusing on AI Tech development, decentralized finance education, and conservation. GSI has been awarded a grant through the Florida state legislature to improve water quality of the Choctawhatchee Bay. Doug also serves as a special district Commissioner where he is focused on reducing taxes while improving public services in South Walton County, Florida. He also founded and directs Southern Hybrid Homes, Emerald Coast Council of Engineers, Point Washington Preserve event center, and the AI Tech Hub Campus. Doug has a long resume of public service, business development, and philanthropy. He has served as President of the Okaloosa/Walton Building Industry Association, has done research and advocacy in cancer biology, has been a scientist for the Choctawhatchee Basin Alliance, and was a member of the Walton County Florida Schools accreditation/advisory committee. A native of Memphis, Tennessee, Doug received his Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Tennessee and his Master of Combined Sciences with a focus in microbiology from the University of Mississippi Medical Center. He loves the outdoors, family, tennis, golf, fishing, and building. Doug is the proud father of five successful children and six grandchildren! He also has a precious Yorkie named Lily.
