I'm an experienced IP, Data & Technology lawyer & Partner dealing with all aspects of data protection, technology, cyber security, AI and intellectual property law including the protection and exploitation of trade marks; copyright; branding; patents; know how; database rights and design rights. I have experience in drafting and negotiating commercial contracts including data sharing/processing agreements, software licences; agency agreements; distribution agreements and franchise agreements. I regularly advise on UK & EU GDPR compliance, privacy and reputation matters. I have been certified as a specialist in Cyber Security by the Law Society of Scotland and regularly advise clients who have suffered or bee affected by a personal data or cyber breach. I have been accredited as a specialist in Public Procurement law by The Law Society of Scotland. I help both contracting authorities to design and run successful procurements; and private sector tenderers who bid for those contracts. I have particular expertise in advising on contentious procurement matters: either helping aggrieved bidders in challenging contract awards, or defending contracting authorities against such challenges. I have been involved in a number of cases in both the Court of Session and the Sheriff Court on both the pursuer and the defender side. I also advise on advertising; passing off; and a range of privacy and freedom of information issues, including advising on appeals to the Scottish Information Commissioner under the Freedom of Information (Scotland) Act 2002. I also have experience in advising on UK and EU competition law, and have advised a number of clients subject to cartel investigations by the Competition & Markets Authority under the Competition Act 1998.
