Douglas E. Warren is an intellectual property attorney working as a solo practitioner in the St. Louis, Missouri area. His work involves preparing & prosecuting U.S. and foreign patent applications, preparing & prosecuting applications to federally register trademarks, and preparing & prosecuting applications to federally register copyrights. In conjunction with those efforts, Douglas also assists his clients in intellectual property litigation, licensing of intellectual property, and in the selling of intellectual property. Douglas focuses his efforts toward helping small businesses and individuals obtain and protect their intellectual property assets. That effort includes providing intellectual property representation for smaller law firms who need assistance in that area for their clients. In Douglas’ career before becoming an attorney, he was engaged in the mechanical design and engineering of a wide variety of products ranging from penitentiaries to components of the Army’s Patriot missile system. Those skills and experience are put into constant use today as he assists his clients in evaluating new mechanical inventions, electro-mechanical inventions, and software inventions. Because education is also very important to Douglas, he has been an adjunct professor for Washington University School of law for almost ten years. Additionally, Douglas was an adjunct professor for St. Louis University where he taught the essentials of intellectual property law to undergraduates working toward business degrees. Those efforts are complimented by his efforts to provide Continuing Legal Education in connection with the Bar Association of Metropolitan St. Louis, the writing of law review articles & newspaper articles, and in various presentations for the Small Business Association, the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, and other trade and social organizations.
