About Drake Watson

A decade of work experience in the retail and service industries have given me real-world skills that allow me to be a strong team member, leader, and communicator. After initially dropping out of college and spending years in the workforce, I returned to academia as a more mature and experienced version of myself and saw great success. At Tacoma Community College and the University of Washington I found a passion for mathematics, analysis, and data science as a vehicle for positively impacting the world. Through a wide breadth of courses in my undergraduate study I also discovered a general love for learning and growing as an academic, which has led me to the Masters in Data Science Program at UC Irvine. I'm passionate about data science's role in our society as data collection and analysis becomes more prevalent by the day, and I believe that it will be crucial to go about these practices in an equitable and thoughtful manner as technology and data drive us into the future.
