About Drew Vaickus

I am currently a junior studying at Western Michigan University’s Haworth College of Business. My major is finance, and I am striving to retain my 4.0 GPA. Setting and reaching goals has always been my way of life, which I believe will help me to excel in a financial career. One attribute that sets me apart from my peers is that I have real-world sales, financial, and managerial experience. I plan to use the knowledge and skills obtained from the Haworth College of Business and from my past work experiences to help me land a financial internship. Leadership: At my young age of 19, I have been able to exceed five years of professional level work experience by managing Apollo Marine. Upon being promoted to a manager, I was able to gain sales experience with new and used boats. Not only was I able to sell these high-end luxurious boats, but I was also able to get myself involved in the boating industry as a whole. Interpersonal Skills: The boating industry has taught me many interpersonal and business-oriented skills. I have been fortunate enough to travel the country in order to attend Moomba and Supra boats’ dealer meetings and will soon be attending a meeting located in the Bahamas. At these meetings it is important to utilize your interpersonal skills in order to have intellectual conversations with the owners, as well as fellow dealers, of the company. Optimizing Skills: After being exposed to the boating industry, I was presented with the opportunity to take a financial internship at a Truck Sales company during the offseason of the marine industry. At this company I was able to work with the Chief Financial Officer and absorb many of the financial skills required to deal with large sums of money and to produce the legal documents needed to buy and sell semis.
