I chose to become an Aircraft Maintenance Engineer because my Dad talked me out of a degree in Education. Unlike many AMEs, I did not grow up in my Dad's garage, nor did I spend time tearing apart cars, or rebuilding lawn mowers. I chose this field because of my lack of experience, and seen it as a challenge. One week into my Hand Tools course within the college program and I was hooked. I found myself learning about each aircraft system independently - Landing Gear, Piston Engines, Hydraulics, Electrical, and so on. I now have almost ten years completed at my current company. I'm very proud of this, and if you're thinking about recruiting me - think again! This profile is strictly for networking and professional development purposes. I consider myself to be in a very niche market as far as my trade goes. I work on relatively small airplanes, sometimes found in what's considered "General Aviation" or "Utility Aircraft" markets. These include aircraft built by Air Tractor, Cessna, Piper, and Grumman. I have a wide array of experiences under my belt, dealing in Forest Fire Control and Pest Management. I have also taken clients privately on my own time, working on Piper Cherokees and Grumman Travelers, just to name a couple. I'm extremely motivated and love what I do. I love meeting new people, sharing stories, and expanding my knowledge of the trade through resource sharing, and interpersonal relationships. I also love meeting people involved in the work related to the aircraft, such as Forestry Technicians, Engineers, Scientists, and Government Officials. I love where my job has taken me so far and look forward to where it will take me in the future.
