About Duane Taylor

I have worked in the manufacturing industry for the past 19 years. Starting from a young age I began working along side my dad and colleagues at F3 Sheetmetal where I gained experience and knowledge of various manufacturing techniques. During my time at college I worked part time at F3 Sheetmetal as a general working operative completing various tasks from sweeping the floors to assisting with deliveries. The next stage in my career was after my college course was completed and I eventually started as a panel assembly operative at F3 Sheetmetal which during this time I learnt the key skills of building, wiring and testing panels safely. I did this for a couple of years until the general progression of the company allowed an opportunity to change my career path slightly. The opportunity arrived in the early part of 2008 when I became a machine operative which is where I learnt and became a skilled operator on trumpf & Amada punches and press brake machines. Soon after starting my new job role I soon realised that I could offer more to F3 and that machine operating wasn't were I wanted my career to soley be. I began to offline program shortly after learning the fundamentals of the machines which was my gateway into project management and eventually to were I am today. The progression into engineering and services management didn't come quickly but in the time it has taken it allowed me to gain the knowledge and skills to advise customers and understand the workings of a product thoroughly. As an engineering and services manager at F3 I have been allowed to redevelop the layout and influence the working practices and movements of products on the shopfloor. I have also been able to get involved in key management decisions at F3 Sheetmetal using various tools such as factory master, 5s and quotation packages to support my views. Moving forwards I would like to continue to support F3 which I am very passionate about and expand my skill set further.
