Background
About Duncan Buckley
My previous role for the NIHR involves not only portfolio work for clinical research, but also digital project inception, development, and rollout. Helping others to realise their projects and streamline processes to improve research activity has become a cornerstone of my position, developing a unique Portfolio Mapping system within the West Midlands which is now being rolled out nationally. I have hard skills such as training and tutoring experience, designing course content for classroom delivery to delegates of varying technical levels and understanding. Effective communication has been a vital part of my career and improved all areas of business to which I have been involved. I have passed the MBA masters degree with distinction with the aim of utilising my experience and knowledge to help shape, influence and improve the organisation for which I work. My medical experience, following a near-fatal car collision, has led me to volunteer with major Trauma Centres to improve delivery of services and participate in research projects for improved patient experience in Critical and Acute Trauma Departments. Additionally, I am consulting on a high level national medical research for High-intensity Specialist Acute Led Care (HiSLAC) in a non-clinical, experiential, capacity and have innovated a unique patient communication prototype currently being tested on the ICU in Birmingham. Historically, I have always been a problem solver; within AMEC, who did not have an accurate method of communicating construction accommodation diagrams with their customers; I successfully introduced a CAD system to the department, improving efficiency and presentation of information flow to the customers to help with key decision-making. For Speedy Space, I assisted the marketing department with the creation of 3-D cutaway diagrams to improve the information delivery to prospective clients and drive sales.
