About Duncan McConnell

Duncan is a consultant and paramedic who utilises over 24 years of experience within pre-hospital care, management, GLNG mining and ICT industries to achieve innovation, transformational change and ongoing professional development that achieves a clear, practical and client focused approach. Currently he is working at St John Ambulance Australia (NT) Inc. as the Clinical Manager of Clinical Services. Prior to this role, he worked as a Senior Lecturer and is the Foundational Paramedicine Program Director in the School of Medicine, Griffith University. Duncan’s has also worked with the Queensland Ambulance Service for 23 years, starting off as an Honorary Ambulance Officer in 1997, then working his way up through the ranks of paramedic, station officer, inspector and other senior leadership roles throughout that career. Duncan's specialties within these areas include: Change Management, Innovation, Transformational Change, Human Resource Management, Logistics, Planning, eLearning, Software Development, Website Development, Managerial Education Development Programs, Paramedical Education, Pre-Hospital Care Operations, Aeromedical Operations and Disaster Management, Simulation and Moulage, Clinical Governance, Quality Assurance, Provision of formal and informal education, Clinical Assessment, Clinical Review & Investigation, Assistance with Management of Diminished Performance, Workplace Health and Safety and First Aid Education. Duncan also works across Developing Countries designing and implementing EMS / Ambulance / Paramedic Services and Systems, based on the needs of the countries health system. This methodology enables a contextualised and sustainable approach to the delivery of prehospital care within that country. Duncan has also works in the Australian Entertainment Industry as a professional guitarist and singer, in which he toured Australia in the Class of 59 Rock around Australia Tour, performing as "Eddie Cochran".
