About Duncan Tulimieri

Whether it is an interesting result or an increase in positive user experience, improvement is what keeps me going. For the last 8 years I have been working in the world of movement ranging from understanding the mechanisms of and competencies needed for dry needling to how and why a stroke can change our movement. One common thread through all these years and experiences has been the motivation of improving our knowledge and understanding of something we take for granted every day. Outside of these studies, I am a passionate freelancing data scientist. I have had the opportunity to work on projects ranging from simulating datasets for a textbook to optimizing and rewriting entire code bases. During my degree I have known that industry moves differently than academia and it has been through these experiences I have seen this with my own eyes. And when I look back on these experiences, I know it is where I belong. I believe there is exciting and important work to be done in the industry. As I finish my Ph.D. and start to see my career more clearly, I see myself in a data science role developing and refactoring code to help a company solve their toughest problems as well as gain a competitive edge. Additionally, I see myself teaching, mentoring, and most importantly, learning wherever I end up.
